Whatnot seller fee calculator
Estimate commission and processing on a US Whatnot sale, and what you keep. Commission is on the sold price; processing is on checkout. Nothing is uploaded.
Breakdown
How the numbers work
Whatnot takes two fees, and they do not share a base:
- Commission is a percentage of the final sold price only. Buyer-paid shipping and tax are left out. Most categories are 8%. Coins & money and pallets are 4%.
- Payment processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on the checkout total: sold price + shipping the buyer pays + sales tax.
Your payout is the sold price minus those two fees. Buyer shipping is not extra cash in your pocket; it pays the label. If you cover shipping, that cost comes out of earnings and processing is a bit lower because checkout is smaller.
On comics, TCG, sports singles, toys & hobbies, and coins & money, commission currently stops at $1,500 of sold price (limited time). Processing still runs on the full checkout.
Example from Whatnot’s own help: a $50 item, checkout $58.70 including shipping and tax. Commission $4.00 + processing $2.00 = $6.00. You keep $44.00 before product cost. Load this page’s defaults to see that same $50 / $8.70 split.
FAQ
Does the 8% commission include shipping?
No. Commission is only on the sold price. Shipping and tax raise the processing fee, not the commission. That is the usual surprise versus eBay or Etsy, where the percentage often hits shipping too.
When does the $1,500 cap change the math?
On a $2,000 TCG lot, 8% applies to $1,500 ($120) and $0 to the remaining $500. Without the cap, most-category 8% would be $160. Processing still uses the full checkout. The cap is limited-time; check Whatnot Help before a high-value show.
Is this exact to the penny Whatnot will take?
No. It is an estimate using published US / Canada / Australia rates as of Aug 11, 2026. Taxes on fees, cross-border shipping billed separately, and category promotions can change the receipt. Giveaways have no seller fees; you still pay shipping.
