Walmart Marketplace referral fee calculator

Pick your contract category and see the referral fee Walmart takes on the total sales price (item + shipping + gift wrap). The calculator flags the price lines where the whole sale jumps to a higher rate, compares two categories, and finds the price you need for a target payout. Nothing is uploaded.

How the numbers work

Walmart charges one referral fee per item sold, only after the sale. The rate depends on the contract category Walmart assigns to the item, and it is applied to the total sales price: item price plus shipping and handling, gift wrap and other charges. Categories use one of three rule types:

Worked examples: a $17 Apparel tee with $4 shipping is a $21 total, so 15% applies to all of it: $3.15 fee, you keep $17.85, less than the $18.00 you'd keep at a $20 total (10%). A $400 Jewelry sale pays 20% of $250 ($50) plus 5% of $150 ($7.50) = $57.50 (14.4% effective). An Outdoor Power Tool at $480 pays 15% ($72.00, keep $408.00), but at $500.01 the whole sale drops to 8% ($40.00, keep $460.01).

FAQ

Does Walmart charge the referral fee on shipping?

Yes. Walmart's schedule says the total sales price includes the item price plus shipping and handling, gift wrap and other charges. That also means shipping you charge can push an item over a price line, such as Apparel's $20 or Grocery's $15.

Why would a higher price leave me with less?

In whole-price-band categories the rate applies to the entire total, not just the part over the line. An Apparel item at a $20.00 total pays 10% ($2.00) and keeps $18.00; at $21.00 it pays 15% ($3.15) and keeps $17.85. You need about $21.18 before going over $20 pays off. The breakdown flags these zones for your category.

Is there a monthly fee or minimum referral fee?

Walmart's pricing page lists no setup or monthly fees, and the referral fee schedule shows percentages only, with no per-item minimum. Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) storage and fulfillment fees are separate. Enter your WFS quote or your own label cost in the fulfillment box.

What about collectibles like trading cards and coins?

For approved sellers, Marketplace Learn lists 8% up to $2,500 and 2.35% on the portion above $2,500 for trading cards, trading card games, comics, coins, autographed collectibles and collectible ephemera, and 8% for all other collectibles. The shorter table on the pricing page shows just 8%, so check your Statements page for the rate you're actually charged.

My item is in the wrong category. What can I do?

Walmart assigns the contract category during item setup, and the Statements page shows the category and commission rate for each item. If you think the category is wrong, Walmart has a process to dispute an incorrect Referral Fee. Use the compare box to see what the right category would save on each sale.

Is this my exact fee?

It's an estimate from Walmart's published schedule (fetched 2026-10-06). Promotions such as new-seller offers, returns, refunds and taxes can change the final number. Your Seller Center statement is the final word.
