How the numbers work

TCGplayer splits Marketplace fees into a commission layer and a transaction layer — not a local-vs-shipped fork like OfferUp, and not a single flat % with an order-wide cap like Discogs:

Example (official Help sample): a $65.31 card + $0.99 shipping with tax bringing the order total to $70.94. Level 1–4 commission ≈ $7.02 on the item + $0.11 on shipping; transaction ≈ $2.07. Combined ≈ $9.20 before your own costs — matching TCGplayer’s Fee Calculation Examples.

Cap cliff: 10.75% hits the $75 per-item ceiling when a single card’s price reaches about $697.67. A $1,200 chase single would be $129.00 at raw 10.75%, but commission on that product stops at $75 — you save $54 vs uncapped commission (shipping commission still accrues separately). That high-value singles angle is what simple “~13% all-in” clones miss.

FAQ

Does TCGplayer take commission on shipping?

Yes. Official Fee Calculation Examples apply Marketplace commission to shipping as well as items. The $75 cap applies per product on the item commission; shipping commission is not capped.

What is the $75 commission cap?

Per TCGplayer Fees Help: Marketplace commission on items is capped at $75 per product sold (Level 1–4 at 10.75%; Pro at 9.25% commission and separately 2.5% Pro fee, each capped $75/item). Shipping commission has no cap. Transaction fees are separate and uncapped.

Why does tax matter in this calculator?

The transaction fee is calculated on the order total of items + shipping + tax. Tax does not change the Marketplace commission base (order subtotal), but it does raise the 2.5% (or 3.5% international) transaction line. Leave tax at $0 if you only want a pre-tax estimate.

Level 1–4 vs Pro — which should I model?

Level 1–4 uses a single 10.75% commission. Pro Non-Direct uses 9.25% commission plus a 2.5% Pro fee (combined 11.75% before caps on the item). Pick the path that matches your Seller Hub account. Direct and Sync accounts have additional fees this page does not estimate.

Is this exact to the penny TCGplayer will take?

No. It is an estimate from TCGplayer Help fee articles (Fees page updated September 10, 2026; Fee Calculation Examples updated around June 18, 2026 for Direct-structure notes). Multi-SKU carts, Direct Reimbursement Invoice / Store Your Product fees (item-based structure from June 18, 2026), sync-provider fees, refunds, and payout adjustments can change the real settlement. Confirm the order fee breakdown in Seller Hub before you commit to a list price.

Does quantity change the cap?

The $75 cap is per product sold. If you sell two copies of the same high-value SKU, each unit can hit its own $75 commission ceiling. This tool multiplies a single unit price by qty and applies the per-unit cap on each — useful for sealed product or playset listings at one price.
