How the numbers work
Probstein lists your card on eBay, pays eBay's fees, and keeps one commission rate chosen by the final sale price. That rate applies to the whole price, not just the part inside the band:
- Under $100: 15% (you get 85%). Items under $10 also pay a $1 fee.
- $100–$249: 14% · $250–$499: 13% · $500–$749: 12%
- $750–$999: 10% · Over $1,000: 5% (you get 95%)
Because the rate falls as the price rises, a card that sells at $1,000 pays you $950. One that sells at $999 pays you $899.10. That's a $50.90 jump for one more dollar of bids. The calculator shows how far you are from the next band.
Selling it yourself, eBay takes 13.25% of the item price plus shipping and tax, plus $0.40 per order. Then you pay for the label and supplies. Example: on a $250 card with $5 buyer shipping and a $5.50 label, Probstein pays $217.50. eBay yourself leaves about $215.31. Under $1,000 the two come out close. Above $1,000, Probstein's 5% usually wins unless the card sells well above $7,500, where eBay drops to 2.35% on the part over $7,500.
FAQ
Does Probstein charge eBay fees on top of the commission?
No. Probstein says "We Pay All eBay Fees." The 5–15% commission is what comes out of the sale price. Your cost to ship cards to Probstein is not included in the rate, so enter it in the inbound field.
Is the rate tiered like a tax bracket?
No. Probstein's table lists one rate and one "You Get" percentage for each sale-price range, so the whole sale is charged at one rate. That's why the payout jumps at $100, $250, $500, $750 and $1,000.
What about cheap cards and raw cards?
Items that sell under $10 pay a $1 fee. This page adds it on top of the 15%. Ask Probstein if that's how it shows on your statement. Raw cards under $35 aren't accepted and get sent back at your shipping cost.
Where does $1,000 fall, 10% or 5%?
Probstein lists "Over $1,000" at 5% and "$750 – $999" at 10%. This page charges 5% from exactly $1,000. A sale between $999 and $1,000, like $999.50, is charged 10%.
Is this exactly what I'll be paid?
No. It's an estimate from published rates checked on 2026-11-03. Auction results, returns, and any changes Probstein or eBay make to their terms will change the final number. Not affiliated with Probstein, P123 Auctions or eBay.
