    How the numbers work

PangoBooks takes one fee when a book sells: 20% of the sale amount, with a $0.40 minimum. Listing is free and there is no monthly plan. The fee covers processing, support and order insurance.

Shipping is a prepaid USPS Media Mail label priced by order weight. The buyer pays for it unless the order reaches your free-shipping minimum, in which case the label is deducted from your payout after delivery.

    Order weightLabel
    0–1 lb$3.99
    1–2 lb$5.69
    2–3 lb$5.99
    3–4 lb$6.99
    4–5 lb$7.99
    5–7 lb$8.99
    7–8 lb$9.99
    8–9 lb$10.99
    9–10 lb$11.99
    Over 10 lb$11.99 + $0.75 per extra lb

Example: two $8 books at 0.8 lb each. The sale is $16, the fee is $3.20, and you keep $12.80 when the buyer pays shipping. With a $15 free-shipping minimum the order qualifies, the 1.6 lb label ($5.69) comes out too, and you keep $7.11. That's a 56% total take on the order.

Because label prices climb slowly (a 1 lb label is $3.99 and a 3 lb one is $5.99), each extra book in a free-shipping order costs less to ship. That's why the minimum you choose matters more than whether you offer free shipping at all.

    FAQ

    What are PangoBooks seller fees?

Listing is free. When a book sells, PangoBooks charges a 20% sales fee on the sale amount with a $0.40 minimum. The fee covers payment processing, customer service and insurance on orders. There's no monthly fee and no separate processing fee.

    Who pays shipping on PangoBooks?

The buyer, by default. What they pay buys the prepaid USPS Media Mail label sent to you, so it isn't income and the calculator doesn't add it to your payout. If you set a free-shipping minimum and an order reaches it, the label cost is taken out of your earnings. Canadian buyers always pay their own shipping, even when your shop offers free shipping.

What free-shipping minimum should I set?

Pick one high enough that a qualifying order still earns your target after the 20% fee and the label. A minimum that one book can reach on its own is usually the costly one, because a lone book pays the full $3.99+ label. The calculator's "lowest safe free-shipping minimum" finds that point for your price and weight.

Is the $0.40 minimum per book or per order?

PangoBooks describes it as a minimum fee on a sale and doesn't say how it splits across a multi-book order. This calculator applies it per book, which is the more cautious reading. It only matters for books under $2.

Is the fee charged before or after my shop discounts?

The calculator charges 20% on the discounted book total, the amount the buyer actually pays for books. It also checks your free-shipping minimum against that discounted total. If your Earnings page shows otherwise, trust that.

Why does one PangoBooks page say shipping starts at $4.99?

The general FAQ still says $4.99. The dedicated shipping-cost article lists $3.99 for 0–1 lb, and this calculator uses that table. The label shown in the app when you list is what counts.
