LEGO selling fees comparison calculator
Put one LEGO sale through BrickLink, Brick Owl, eBay and Facebook Marketplace side by side. Each site charges on a different base, so this works out each fee the way that site does, adds PayPal or Stripe where you pay it yourself, and shows the eBay price that would match your best net. Nothing is uploaded.

How the numbers work
BrickLink charges per order batch on items only: 3% of the first $500, 2% from $500 to $1,000, 1% above. Brick Owl charges 2.65% of the order total minus shipping and non-import taxes. On both, buyers pay into your PayPal or Stripe, which charges on the whole payment, shipping and tax included.
eBay charges its final value fee on the total amount of the sale: item, shipping and sales tax. For Toys & Hobbies that's 13.6% up to $7,500 then 2.35% (12.7% up to $2,500 with a Basic or higher Store), plus $0.30 on orders of $10 or less or $0.40 above. Facebook Marketplace shipped orders pay 10% of the whole transaction including shipping and tax, with a $0.80 minimum. eBay and Facebook include payment processing.
The "price to match" lines search for the item price, with your same shipping charge, that leaves you the same amount as the cheapest site. The gap is what eBay's or Facebook's extra buyers have to be worth to you.
Item price only, no shipping, no tax, US PayPal on BrickLink and Brick Owl, no eBay Store:
| Price | BrickLink | Brick Owl | eBay |
|---|
Example: a $50 set with $8 shipping and 7% tax ($62.06 paid). BrickLink takes $1.50 and PayPal $2.66, so you receive $53.84. Brick Owl takes $1.33, so you receive $54.01. eBay takes $8.44 + $0.40 = $8.84, leaving $49.16. Facebook takes $6.21, leaving $51.79. To net $54.01 on eBay you'd list at about $55.68 plus the same $8 shipping, 11% more. Facebook would need about $52.48.
FAQ
Where is the cheapest place to sell LEGO?
On fees alone, Brick Owl and BrickLink are far cheaper than eBay or Facebook Marketplace shipping. Brick Owl takes 2.65% and BrickLink 3% (dropping to 2% and 1% on bigger orders), both on items only, and you pay PayPal or Stripe on top. eBay takes 13.6% of the whole sale plus $0.30 or $0.40 an order, and Facebook takes 10% of the whole sale with a $0.80 minimum. eBay and Facebook include payment processing.
Does BrickLink charge 10% plus 3%?
No. BrickLink's Fees & Billing Policy charges 3% of the first $500 of each order batch, 2% from $500 to $1,000 and 1% above that, on items only. There is no 10% fee. The other cost is your own PayPal or Stripe fee, about 3.49% + $0.49 or 2.9% + $0.30 on the full payment in the US.
Which fees are charged on shipping?
BrickLink and Brick Owl leave shipping out of their commission. eBay and Facebook Marketplace charge their percentage on the total, including shipping and sales tax. PayPal and Stripe also charge on the full payment, so on BrickLink and Brick Owl you still pay a few percent on shipping and tax through your processor.
What eBay fee applies to LEGO?
LEGO sells in Toys & Hobbies. Without a Store, or with a Starter Store, the final value fee is 13.6% of the total amount of the sale up to $7,500, then 2.35%, plus $0.30 per order of $10 or less or $0.40 above. Basic and higher Store subscribers pay 12.7% up to $2,500, then 2.35%. Promoted Listings ad fees are extra.
Is it worth selling LEGO on eBay at a higher price?
It can be, if the extra reach sells it faster or for more. This calculator shows the eBay item price you'd need to keep the same amount you'd net on the cheapest LEGO marketplace. On a $50 set with $8 shipping that works out to about $56, roughly 11% higher.
