How the numbers work

Fashionphile takes its fee out of the sale proceeds. It is tiered on the sale price, like a tax bracket, so only the dollars above $3,000 get the lower rate.

Worked examples: a $400 sale pays a $120 fee and you keep $280. A $5,000 sale pays $900 on the first $3,000 plus $300 on the next $2,000, so the fee is $1,200 (24% effective) and you keep $3,800. Taking that $3,800 as store credit makes it $4,180 of credit.

FAQ

Is Fashionphile's fee 30% or 15%?

Both, in layers. The first $3,000 of the sale price pays 30% and only the part above $3,000 pays 15%. A $4,000 bag pays $900 plus $150, so $1,050 total, not $600.

Should I take store credit for the extra 10%?

Only if you'll spend it at Fashionphile (or Neiman Marcus, for the gift card). The 10% is added to your share after the fee, so a $2,000 share becomes $2,200 of credit. If you need cash, direct deposit or check avoids the $50 wire fee.

Is the buyout or consignment better?

Consignment pays more whenever the expected sale price clears the break-even row, but it takes time (Fashionphile says two to ten weeks) and the price can be marked down. A buyout is a fixed quote, valid for 30 days, paid once the item is authenticated. Enter your quote to see the break-even sale price.

Can I set my own price?

No. Fashionphile decides the price from comparable sales and may discount items that stay unsold past 25 days. Use the markdown box to see how a 10% or 20% cut changes what you receive.

What if I want my bag back?

Pulling a consigned item during the first 90 days costs $75, or $125 for a Hermès Birkin or Kelly, plus return shipping at your expense. After 90 days the consignment rolls on until the item sells.

Is this my exact payout?

No, it's a planning estimate from Fashionphile's published seller terms (fetched 2026-10-05). Fashionphile sets the final sale price and pays only after the buyer's return window closes, so check your consignor account for the real number.
