How the numbers work
Discogs is a flat marketplace fee with hard floors and ceilings — not a local-vs-shipped fork like OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace:
- Listing is free. You pay only when an order sells.
- 9% selling fee on item price + shipping the buyer pays. Shipping is in the base (unlike OfferUp’s item-only model).
- USD bounds: minimum $0.10, maximum $150 per the Discogs fee table. Other currencies have their own min/max.
- Partner Fee ≠ PayPal. On PayPal, “Partner Fee / Partner Commission” is Discogs’ 9% plus applicable taxes. PayPal’s own processing fee is a separate deduction from the gross.
Example: $40 item + $6 shipping = $46 fee base. Discogs fee = 9% × $46 = $4.14. Optional PayPal at 3.49% + $0.49 on $46 ≈ $2.10. Combined before costs ≈ $6.24; you keep about $39.76 of the $46 buyer total before product and postage.
Cap cliff: 9% hits $150 when the fee base reaches about $1,666.67. A $2,000 sealed box set + $50 ship ($2,050 base) would be $184.50 at raw 9%, but Discogs stops at $150 — you save $34.50 vs an uncapped cut. That is the collectibles angle most simple 9% clones miss.
Floor cliff: below about $1.12 of item+shipping, the $0.10 minimum beats 9%.

Does Discogs charge the 9% on shipping?
Yes. Official Help: the selling fee is 9% on both the item and shipping costs. Always include buyer-paid shipping in the fee base.
What are the USD minimum and maximum fees?
Per Discogs “What Are The Fees For Selling On Discogs?” (page updated July 11, 2026): USD minimum $0.10, maximum $150. Other currencies (EUR, GBP, CAD, etc.) have their own normalized min/max in that table.
Is the Partner Fee on PayPal the same as PayPal’s processing fee?
No. Discogs’ PayPal Payments FAQ says Partner Fee / Partner Commission covers the Discogs selling fee plus applicable taxes remitted via Discogs. PayPal’s processing fee is taken separately from the gross payment. This tool keeps those lines apart on purpose.
Why does the PayPal estimate default to 3.49% + $0.49?
That matches PayPal US merchant fees for PayPal Checkout / “All Other Commercial Transactions” with a $0.49 USD fixed fee (PayPal merchant fee page, last updated September 1, 2026). Your actual Discogs checkout path may differ (card vs wallet, domestic vs international +1.50%). Adjust the fields or turn the estimate off and read your PayPal transaction.
