How the numbers work
BrickLink charges a fee on every order batch. A batch is a new order, or each addition a buyer makes to an existing order. The fee uses the batch's items total only. BrickLink's own definition excludes shipping, insurance and additional charges.
- Up to $500: 3% of the batch.
- $500 to $1,000: $15 (3% of the first $500) plus 2% of the rest.
- Over $1,000: $15 + $10 (2% of $500–$1,000) plus 1% of the rest.
These are marginal bands, like tax brackets, and they reset for each batch. They are never applied to your monthly total. Fees are worked out in US dollars, and stores in other currencies are converted at the latest batch's exchange rate. VAT-enabled stores pay on item prices with VAT removed.
Payment is separate. With onsite PayPal or Stripe the money goes to your own account and the processor takes its fee on the full payment. BrickLink says sellers pay that fee on the whole transaction, including the US sales tax that BrickLink collects and keeps to remit.
| Single batch | BrickLink fee | Effective rate |
|---|
Example: a $40 order with $5 shipping and 6% tax is $1.20 to BrickLink. The buyer pays $47.70, and PayPal takes 3.49% + $0.49 = $2.15. Fees total $3.35, or 8.4% of the items. A $750 order placed at once costs $20. Placed as $400 then $350, it costs $12 + $10.50 = $22.50.
FAQ
How much does BrickLink charge sellers?
BrickLink charges a fee on each order batch: 3% of the first $500, 2% of the part between $500 and $1,000, and 1% of anything above $1,000. Fees are calculated and billed in US dollars. There is no listing fee. PayPal or Stripe charge their own processing fee separately.
Is the BrickLink fee charged on shipping?
No. BrickLink defines the order batch total as the items only, excluding shipping, insurance and additional charges. Your payment processor, however, charges its fee on the whole payment, including shipping and any US sales tax BrickLink collects.
Do the lower 2% and 1% rates apply to my monthly sales?
No. The tiers apply to each order batch on its own, not to your monthly total. A seller with sixty $40 orders pays 3% on every one of them. Only single batches over $500 reach the 2% and 1% bands.
Is BrickLink 13% like some sites say?
No. BrickLink's own fee table tops out at 3% per batch. A typical US order paid by PayPal costs about 3% to BrickLink plus 3.49% + $0.49 to PayPal on the full payment, so roughly 7% to 10% of the items on a $20 to $100 order with $5 shipping, not 13%.
What happens when a buyer adds to an existing order?
Each addition is a new order batch, and BrickLink calculates a fee for each batch separately and adds them up. If the order was already billed, the fee is reset, recalculated and shown as an adjustment on your next bill. Because the tiers reset per batch, a large order split into batches can cost more than the same order placed at once.
When do I get billed, and what about cancelled orders?
BrickLink bills on the 5th of each month for the previous month if your balance is at least $5 (US) or $10 (outside the US). Smaller balances carry over, and everything is billed on December 5. Orders cancelled in the same month or by the 4th of the next month are left off the bill. Later cancellations are credited on a later bill. Orders cancelled through a Non-Responding or Non-Shipping Seller Alert are not refunded.
