    How the numbers work

Brick Owl takes 2.65% of each order placed in your store. The base is the order total minus shipping minus non-import taxes, so in practice it's your items plus any import tax collected on the order. There's no fee to open a store or list items.

Payment is separate. Buyers pay into your own PayPal or Stripe account, and the processor takes its fee on everything that passes through: items, shipping and tax. That's why shipping still costs you a few percent even though Brick Owl doesn't touch it.

BrickLink charges per order batch: 3% of the first $500, 2% from $500 to $1,000, and 1% above. Brick Owl is 0.35 points cheaper up to $500. Past that, BrickLink's lower bands catch up, and a single order of $769.23 or more in items costs less on BrickLink. Opting into an affiliate scheme moves that line lower.

    Items total (USD)Brick OwlBrickLink

Example: a $40 order with $5 shipping, paid with US PayPal. Brick Owl takes $1.06. PayPal takes 3.49% of $45 plus $0.49, which is $2.06. You receive $41.88. On BrickLink the marketplace fee would be $1.20, so Brick Owl leaves you $0.14 more.

    FAQ

How much does Brick Owl charge sellers?

Brick Owl charges a 2.65% commission on each order placed in your store. There is no fee to open a store or to list items. Your payment processor (PayPal or Stripe) charges its own fee separately.

Is the Brick Owl commission charged on shipping?

No. Brick Owl works out the commission on the order total minus shipping minus non-import taxes. Import taxes collected on the order stay in the base. PayPal or Stripe still charge their fee on the whole payment, shipping and tax included.

When does Brick Owl bill the commission?

The commission is due at the start of the month, and Brick Owl only bills you if the amount is over £5 in your local currency. Smaller amounts are not billed that month.

Is Brick Owl cheaper than BrickLink?

For most orders, yes. BrickLink charges 3% on the first $500 of each order batch, so Brick Owl's 2.65% is 0.35 points cheaper on orders up to $500. Above that BrickLink drops to 2% and then 1%, and on a single order of about $769.23 in items or more BrickLink's fee is lower. Both leave PayPal or Stripe fees to you.

What are the Brick Owl affiliate schemes?

They are optional programs you opt into in your store settings, for example orders that reach you from Rebrickable. Brick Owl says each scheme has its own commission, and the rate isn't on the public fee page, so enter the rate shown in your store settings.
